Quality and reliability of the laboratory work are the demand of physician and users. Specialists in this field hold life and death in their hand because the information they give to the doctors influences the medical treatment a patient receives. They are also trouble shooters who not only report accurate results but also know when results are incorrect and need to be rechecked.
On that background, the outcome of the laboratory investigation should poses reliable, valid, acceptable and accurate data. For such data extraction from sample, in-depth knowledge in the relevant subjects, basic principles of tests, rational interpretation of data with relation to disease and abnormality are indisputable. Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT)
B.M.L.T (Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology) is one of the largest and impoverished wings in the modern healthcare field. Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) is a three and half year undergraduate course which offers candidates systematic knowledge about the handling of laboratory equipment,collecting sample, laboratory diagnostic procedures, making reports, and documenting. It is a career-oriented course and is one of the most demanded courses in paramedical science. The course is helpful for students who wish to pursue a career in the management of laboratories, advancement in laboratories, and instrumentation.The subjects that will be taught are Basic instrumentation and application, Human anatomy, Human physiology, Biochemistry& Biophysics, Clinical endocrinology & Andrology, Clinical microbiology, Blood transfusion & Blood bank, Clinical pathology, Haematology, Clinical immunology, Cytotechnology & Histotechnology and serology, etc.With BMLT being one of the fastest growing fields in the healthcare sector, the demand for qualified professionals is growing every day for the treatment of rapidly growing diseases. Degree in BMLT helps you gain practical and technical knowledge for the right diagnosis and how to effectively run biochemical laboratories.

After the completion of the course, there is a so many high possibility for the employment opportunity of the candidates in government hospitals, Medical colleges, Semi Government hospitals, Private Diagnostic Centers, Research institutes as Chief Medical Laboratory Technician in our country and abroad. Medical Laboratory Technologist have an unlimited choices of practice settings, hospitals, independent laboratories, clinics, public health facilities and industry all currently have position open for qualified personnel. Additional opportunities are available in molecular diagnostics and molecular biotechnology companies as well as research laboratories.
The output of this course will serve the Government and other organization especially in the field clinical diagnosis, which is vital for medical treatment. Throughout the Nation and even in abroad like Arabian Countries and USA, there is a high demand of skillful laboratory technician.
The department has Biochemistry, Haematology and Microbiology laboratory with up to date modern equipments required to run the course .Important instruments like Bionocular Research Microscopes, Colorimeter,Photometer, Incubator, Laminar flow,All instruments /Counters for RBC,WBC,ESR,CT,BT, BP etc. are present.
Staff -Currently a total of 06 teachers of Laboratory technology, Parasitology and Physiology are taking classes along with visiting faculties from Debra Super speciality Hospital , other medical colleges and also professors from Vidyasagar University are taking classes.
In addition 02 trained laboratory attendants are also present in the department.
